Rachana sharira deals with the structures of the body as a whole, is the backbone of every health system because until and unless person doesn’t know the structure and normality of body, he/she will not be able to diagnose the disease or manage the disease.

The physician will become greatly learned only after studying human body and science. Through human cadaver dissection and study of shastras, one can get rid of doubts and can manage diseased properly. Acharya Sushruta was the first to dissect the human cadaver and has explained the basic and detailed description of dissection methodology in his treatise.

The discipline of anatomy provides basic education in macroscopic and microscopic human anatomy and cell biology for the students of Ayurveda in their first year of curriculum. The department conducts regular dissection of human cadaver, study of bones, study of wet specimen, models and charts etc.

The curriculum includes the study of marma Sharira, garbha Sharira, uttamanga sharira, embryology, neuroanatomy, radiology, surface anatomy, histology, cadaveric anatomy, living anatomy, applied anatomy, genetics, anthropology etc.
